GRE Test Dates
Updated March 04, 2010
Ready to write the GRE? Good for you! Now it’s time to register. First, you need to decide on a test-date.
When can I write the GRE?
The GRE test dates is conducted throughout the year, several times a month. For example, in the month of January 2010, GRE seatings were offered on the 7th, 8th, 15th, 19-22nd, 27th and 28th of January. Most months, around 10 GRE dates are available. You just have to pick the day that’s right for you, and hope it’s not full.
Which day should I choose?
This doesn’t really make a difference. For example, taking the test on Wednesday would not be any easier or harder than the Friday test. You should just choose the day that’s comfortable for you.
A few things to note:
- In general, the number of students who take the GRE between September and December ishigher than any other month of the year. So if you are planning to appear for GRE during above period then it is advisable that you should register in advance.
- It’s usually adviseable to take the test as soon as possible, to make sure that the scores can get to your graduate schools of choice in a timely fashion.
- Test centers fill up quickly, so early registration is recommended.
- If you’ve already taken the test, you must remember that you may take the General Test (computer-based and/or paper-based) only once per calendar month and no more than five times within any 12-month period. This applies even if you canceled your scores on a test taken previously.
